NEW YORK GIANTS MEDIA DAY - CORNERBACK AARON ROSS - Ingles

Super Bowl XLVI – Tuesday, January 31, 2012

(on what he recalls from his first Super Bowl) “It was great. We won, so it was great. Now we’re trying to move on to this one and get this one out of our system.”

(on his career thus far) “I’ve been in two Super Bowls so I feel great.”

(on how the University of Texas prepared him for the NFL and playing on the Super Bowl stage) “Texas has a big crowd. There are a lot of media, so it prepares me for the media. Coach (Mack) Brown does a tremendous job in bringing the media in and having us prepared for their questions. Playing on a big stage, that’s one of the things you do when you’re playing at UT.”

(on how often he goes back to Texas and works out there) “Oh yeah. I go back all the time and workout with the guys and see Coach (Brown).”

(on the strength of the Giants) “I think, right now, we’re clicking on the offensive side, defensive side, as well as on special teams. Being a defensive player, early in the year, we weren’t on the same page. We had a few mental mistakes that cost us games. Now in the last month or month-and-a-half, we’ve been on a hot streak and Coach (Tom Coughlin) has been putting in a great game plan for us and we’ve been executing plays.”

(on if they ever had any doubts about being able to win the division) “No, not at all. That was our number one goal from the beginning of the season. We wanted to win our division, the NFC East, which is a really tough division to play in. To win that, that was the number one goal. In order to win that, you knew you could make it to the Super Bowl.”

(on how they prepared for the playoff game against the Green Bay Packers) “Just focus and execution. You can’t make the mental mistakes against an offense like that. That was the main thing. Coach (Coughlin) put in a great game plan and we executed. That was the only thing. We didn’t mess up.”

(on overcoming injuries to get to where they are today) “That was one of the things that was hurting us, the injuries. Coach had to come up with some type of game plan to get everybody on the same page. We were struggling with it in the middle of the season. Now, I feel like guys came back and we’re a healthier group. The defense is clicking now.”

(on facing Tom Brady and what makes him so tough to defend) “Everything. He’s capable of doing everything and making all the throws, all the reads. With a guy like that, it’s a tough task at hand.”

(on slowing down the Patriots’ tight ends) “We just have to stay on top of them. Don’t make any mental mistakes because they will capitalize on them. That’s our goal.”

(on what his path to the NFL from John Tyler High School has meant to him personally) “It’s great. I truly have been blessed these last six years, coming from John Tyler to getting to the University of Texas and winning a national championship. Then coming to the NFL and being a part of two Super Bowls, it’s truly a blessing.”

(on what Mack Brown is going to do to bring the Longhorns back) “You know Mack always has something up his sleeves. He’s a great recruiter. He’s going to get some guys in there for us that will get us back to the National Championship. We’ll be alright as Longhorn Nation.”
