Super Bowl XLVI – Wednesday, February 1, 2012
(on having success against the Patriots in the past) “We’re going to go out there and do what we do. As a wide receiving core, we’re going to go out there and do what we do. Get open, pay attention to detail, go out and just win. Yeah, we feel confident going in.”
(on the Patriots’ secondary) “They’re athletic – a good secondary. I feel like we can go out there and make plays against them.”
(on defensive matchups against the Patriots) “We have a great defensive line. We have great positions everywhere. I’m not going to say that’s the best matchup, but I am going to say we’re going to hold the fort down in terms of wide receivers.”
(on approaching each game with confidence) “We try to come out and make plays. We’re not going to sit up here and talk about how they play, how they run, we’re just going to worry about what we do. That’s going out there and sticking to details. We’re just going to do what we’ve been doing all year. It’s nothing but a bunch of people watching – same game but just more people watching.”
(on the various playmakers within the wide receiving core) “Its fun knowing someone is always going to be open. We run our routes to get open. We take pride in running our routes and finishing out the game.”
(on knocking off Green Bay at Lambeau in the second round of the playoffs) “It’s confidence and minimizing mistakes, just playing, not thinking, going out there and playing and letting your ability take over.”
(on the turning point in the season) “We knew we wanted to go to the playoffs. We knew how good of a team we had. We made our mind up to go out there and do it.”
(on his favorite moment from his University of Michigan career) “Probably, my freshman year and catching the game winner against Penn State. We stopped them from going undefeated that year.”
(on quarterback Eli Manning’s fourth quarter play) “He gets that peak in the fourth quarter. He knows what he wants to do and knows where to put the ball. That’s when he plays his best ball. Normally, in the fourth quarter, quarterbacks get sluggish, your team gets tired but I feel like we do the opposite. We know its “go-time” in the fourth quarter.”
(on expectations coming into the league of the possibility of going to the Super Bowl with the Giants) “With a team like this and the coaching staff we have, good players and great attitudes, that stuff lingers around the locker room. Once everyone wants to win and starts playing to their potential, that’s when you realize you can do this.”
(on touchdown celebration) “No. I’m just trying to get in the endzone.”
(on going under the radar) “I’m comfortable in my role. I can’t complain. I like going out there and going under the radar. It’s kind of like I can go out there and make a play at any time because they’re paying attention to Hakeem (Nicks) and Victor (Cruz). I like being under the radar.”
(on the Packers secondary heading into the second round of the playoffs) “We knew they’re athletic. We knew they had good safeties and corners. We knew what we could do, what we could hit on them and we knew what plays to run. We knew it was going to be a physical game.”
(on quarterback Eli Manning’s “clutch” gene) “I can’t explain. You have to have that in your heart and in your mind. Eli (Manning) comes through in the fourth quarter. He knows what to do for us to all be on the same page.”
(on journey from the University of Michigan to the NFL) “It’s been a nice one. At my first Super Bowl, obviously. Just trying to go make plays, enjoying everything, knowing it’s a job, knowing it’s a business, trying to make fun out of it for as long as I can.”
(on thinking injuries would derail his NFL career while at the University of Michigan) “No, I didn’t. You can’t ever lose faith. You can’t think about that – can’t think about that past. You’ve got to live in the present.”
(on his production the last three playoff games) “I’m just trying to make plays. I’ve got a hunger for making plays, I thrive on going and making plays – not doing too much, not doing too less. I’m just doing what I got to do.”
